Water Filtration

Most Americans assume that because they do not live in a third world country their water is completely healthy. However, what they do not know is that while many components of water are monitored by government agencies, a variety of potential water treatment issues still exist even in the United States.

Many of these problems cannot be detected with the naked eye while others can be noticed as soon as one lifts the glass of water to his or her lips.

Problems with Contaminants

The United States Environmental Protection Agency monitors and restricts a variety of contaminants in tap water. They do not allow over a certain amount of a variety of chemicals and microorganisms to be in city drinking water. However, these compounds can still be present in the water in small amounts.

Of course, those who drink well water do not have their water monitored by an official source and cannot know what is in their water without having an analysis performed. Some typical contaminants that are found in tap and well water include bacteria, iron, nitrates and pesticides. Water treatment plants also commonly add in chemicals, such as fluoride, which some people do not like to drink.

Problems with Taste, Odor and Color

Not only can there be problems with contaminants, which can cause physical problems, such as upset stomach, but also there can be more easily detectable problems with the appearance and taste of the water. Often this is due to what is called hard water, which is water filled with common minerals, such as calcium and iron.
These minerals lead to deposits in bathtubs and toilets, yellowed laundry and poor tasting water. Some water, particularly well water, may yield a distinct unpleasant odor or have a faint yellowish tinge.

How a Water Treatment Professional Can Help

Our water treatment professionals will be able to inspect each customer’s water and determine what problems exist. After an initial analysis, we can recommend what type of filtration system will best solve the problem.

Some common recommendations that we give and can install include water softening systems for hard water and reverse osmosis units that can purify drinking water. We can also help set up under-sink filtration systems with carbon filters. We can help to make a home’s water safe to drink again.
